Say, Vic, this might sound like a broken record, but are you guys in talks with anyone (in a promising, "soon to have a solution,"-kind of way) regarding European releases for things?

There should be a European release for Blaster Master pretty soon, with Overdrive after that, if we get our way.

What awesome news this is. After seeing other NES games getting the same kind of treatment, it's great to see Blaster Master receive the same-- and this is better because it really was unexpected. Sunsoft's reappearance on the publishing scene lends itself to many great IPs from the 8-bit and 16-bit days, and I'm really looking forward to what comes next.

And... kudos for catching the gaming press off-guard on a Saturday. :-) I never expected to see such a notable unveiling on a weekend. Nice!

Well, today we have Heavy Rain in the West and Snowmageddon in the East, so this seemed like a nice mood enhancing measure. :)

Congratulations: You've successfully killed my enthusiasm for Bioshock. I mean, hey, the hell does Bioshock have on Blaster Master?

But still, I'm kind of skeptical. I haven't forgotten Enemy Below - much as it looks like Blaster Master, the controls felt stiff and you couldn't totally spam grenades like you could in the original. So, my question: How does it control? Please allay my fears.

Cautiously optimistic!

Edit: Also, why is my text all black?

The other thing I disliked about Enemy Below is that you couldn't move diagonally in the overhead tunnels.

Oh yeah, and your text is black when you make a fresh post. It brightens up eventually. I'm not sure why it's that way to start.

Hebereke (or the Japanese Ufouria) might get it's restored, translated Wii Virtual Console download somewhere tomorrow or so, in his other words, He might release it under the title ''Hebereke'' and change the characters back into Hebereke characters(Just depends on him having a translator help out. But I may not know for sure until the game's release )

I hope they would translate the one with the original Hebereke characters in it, instead of using the Ufouria ones, because there are more games starring the Hebereke characters. Hebe, the protagonist of the series, is also the true mascot of Sunsoft. To prove that he is their true mascot, look up the commercial for the SNES versions of World Heroes. The Ufouria ones are just boring edits. For Gimmick!, just stick with the Japanese version, and be sure to either name the protagonist Yumetarou or a good English name other than "Mr. Gimmick". No translations required, except removing the Japanese text on the title screen. For Journey to Silius, release the PAL version in both North America and Europe, because Jay McCray's blue suit from Raf World and the PAL version of Journey to Silius looks superior compared to his white suit from the North American version.

Is the game a remake or sequel? Not that it matters, I'll be buying it either way!

Halfway between both, more like a re-imagining. I would have liked to restore the Meta Fight storyline, but this was already pretty far along when I came on. It's based on the original US storyline, but some things are changed. For example, the hero (Alexander/Alex) in this one is an adult trying to save his family...AND MANKIND. :) Mix of old and new mutants, mix of similar and new bosses, somewhat different ending.

The US storyline (November 1988) wasn't the original plot, it was the Japanese storyline (June 17, 1988), but I understand that you mean the US storyline is the originally known one to people outside of Japan.

This reminds me of the plot of Meta Fight EX/Blaster Master: Enemy Below. Why not connect the US storyline with Japan's, or make the plot similar to this Flash animation?

Blaster Master now has an OFLC rating :)

That means a European & Australian release is incoming. Then again, we waited for nearly a year for Sonic & Knuckles...
